The new BEAR + Aspire R1 is a 3500 puff disposable vape launched in September 2022, born from a collaboration between Eco Vape’s leading BEAR Salts range and the world’s best coil manufacturer, Aspire.
Its big selling point is being the UK’s first compliant 3500 puff disposable vape, which means it provides almost 6 times more puffs than a standard puff bar.
Designed to bridge the gap between 600 puff disposables and vape pods, the R1 is the first truly compliant competitor to the illegal yet popular Elux Legend, which has a non-compliant 10ml tank.
We’ve tested the R1 to see how it compares to the competition and to see what flavour and performance it provides.

Style & Design
The BEAR + Aspire R1 is made with a clean and minimalist design. It isn’t too flashy and its sleek lines and matt finish give it a really nice look that is subtle and comfortable to hold.
It’s also got a flat base so you can stand it up whenever you need. Its slim design fits easily into your pocket and its light weight makes it easy to carry and store in pockets.
In terms of daily wear and tear, the R1 is strong and light weight enough to survive being dropped and knocked over, making it a versatile disposable vape perfect for travelling and as an all day vape device.
Flavour & Performance
First things first, the flavour is great and easily competes with the best disposables on the market. It’s fast and easy to refill, with a simple silicone plug that prevents leaks and is easy to use without dripping e-liquid everywhere.
Battery power contributes greatly to flavour, so its ability to be recharged means the flavour doesn’t fade over time like with single use diposables. The ability to refill and recharge is fantastic, and the R1 lasted for about 12 days until the coil finally reached the end of its life.
Aspire are world renown for their coils, and the MTL coil they have made for the R1 is no exception. When combined with the BEAR Salts ice range of nic salts and the loose airflow of the R1, the flavour is fantastic.
The airflow is noticeably loose compared to other puff bars and disposables. We’d personally prefer a slighter tighter draw as it’s an MTL device, but on the other hand the increased airflow helps bring more flavour out of the coil and almost doubles up as a restricted DTL.
The flavour easily competes with any disposable vape on the market, however unlike standard disposables you can switch flavours with the R1 whenever you refill!
Power & Battery
The R1 is powered by a 650 mAh internal battery, which packs a punch for its size. Combined with the inbuilt Aspire coil and BEAR nic salts, the hefty battery helps the R1 provide incredible flavour with every draw.
The device can be recharged in around an hour with its USB-C fast charging capabilities, about the same for most rechargeable vape pods and pens.
The only issue we found with the battery is that it doesn’t let you know when it’s fully charged, the LED just stays white. It would be nice if they added a coloured or flashing LED to indicate when the battery is full, low or empty.
However if you leave it to charge for 1hr to 1hr 30, it should be fully charged and can last well over one day from full (depending on use).
BEAR + Aspire R1 Review: Summary
All things considered, the BEAR+Aspire R1 does exactly what it says on the tin. It provides over 3500 puffs, has great flavour with a simple yet sleek design, and is a well-built device that can take the usual wear and tear of everyday use.
What’s more, as the UK’s first compliant 3500 puff device, it’s the first truly legal competitor to compete with the popular yet MHRA unlisted Elux Legend disposable with 3500 puffs and a 10ml.
Unlike the Elux Legend, however, it won’t be taken off shelves by Trading Standards, as the R1 and its ECID are listed with the MHRA.
However, with the R1 you not only get the convenience of a longer-lasting device, you also get the added benefits of being able to refill the device (and therefore change flavours) up to 10 times before the coil expires.
That means the R1 can achieve up to 7000 puffs in total, using just one R1 device and two 10ml nic salts. That’s much more than an Elux Legend can provide.
Combined with a powerful internal battery (if only it would let us know when it’s full!), the R1 has the potential to revolutionise the UK disposable market.
