Everything you need to know about flying safely with your vape gear…
Many people are unsure about the rules surrounding flying with their vape and whether or not they are allowed to. The short answer is yes, but there are some rules you will need to follow.
If you are flying and want to take your vape, you will need to do some preparation and know about the rules and laws in advance.
What should you be aware of?
First of all, we should make it very clear that vaping on the plane itself is illegal, just like it is illegal to smoke on a plane. If you Vape on your flight you risk getting removed, arrested, fined or even put in jail upon landing. Wasting your money and your time in the process.
If you want to vape in the airport you should do so in the designated smoking areas. It is advised against trying to sneakily vape in the airport as you could get removed, if you get caught you’ll miss your flight. So, you can have your vape equipment on you, but your not allowed to use it unless you are in a smoking area.
Other ways to get your nicotine hit include nicotine patches, gum, or lozenge. Another option is smokeless tobacco, such as snus. It’s not the same as vaping, but at least using these products won’t bring about the penalties that vaping does.
We would recommend leaving you big box mod devices at home and using something a little more portable, like a disposable device or a pod. Traveling with smaller devices is a lot easier than the dual batteries devices! We sell plenty of these types of devices here at EcoVape, you can view our Pod range here!
You cannot put your vaping equipment in your checked in bags, this includes E-cigarettes, vape pens, mods, and lithium batteries. These items could cause a fire so are not allowed in the cargo hold, instead you must have them in your pockets or in your carry-on bags. Make sure to pack your bags ahead of time so you don’t forget where everything is and don’t risk having anything confiscated from you.
You can have your e-liquids and extra pods either with you or in checked luggage. But keep in mind that TSA rules say that all liquids, aerosols, pastes, creams, and gels in your carry-on have to be in 100 millilitre or smaller bottles and have to fit in one 1-quart plastic bags. These rules apply to your e-liquids, if your liquids are more than 100 millilitres they have to be in your checked in luggage.
In summary, you can pack your vape equipment and take it with you to your destination in most cases. It’s best to verify with the airline and check local laws at your destination in advance, but as long as you follow all of the rules and don’t use your vape in the airport or on your flight you will be fine
